Cardiologists commonly treat a wide range of heart conditions. Some of the most frequent include coronary artery disease (CAD), which occurs when the arteries supplying blood to the heart narrow or become blocked, leading to chest pain or heart attacks. Heart failure is another common condition where the heart struggles to pump blood efficiently. Arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats, are also frequently treated, along with valvular heart diseases, which involve damage to one or more of the heart’s valves. Hypertension (high blood pressure) and congenital heart defects are other conditions regularly managed by cardiologists.
