AV connectors are part of audio-visual equipment allowing the carrying of signals from video and audio. There exist types of AV connectors. These include the HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface), which carries high-definition video and audio; the RCA connectors, quite often in use for analog audio and video; the VGA (Video Graphics Array), which is usually used for computer displays; and finally, the DisplayPort, which allows PCs connection to monitors. Among these, other connectors are for carrying digital sound through optical audio cables, professional audio equipment via XLR connectors, and 3.5mm jack connections between headphones and other portable devices. Knowing all of these types of AV connectors may be critical in the configuration and fine-tuning of an audio-visual system.
